The Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon is seeking a Chef de Partie to join a dynamic, creative kitchen team. You will run and rotate on garnish, larder, hot, or pastry sections, contributing to menus and daily service.

Under the Executive Head Chef, you will prepare from scratch with fresh, local ingredients, supporting events and cafe services. Flexible, varied hours apply with occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience of food preparation and leading a section during service.
  • Trained to at least Level 2 Food Hygiene, although we offer training.
  • Ability to follow instructions precisely and consistently.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with flexible, multitasking, fast-paced work.
  • Good understanding of HACCP and Health and Safety legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team to shape an outstanding food offer across multiple venues.
  • Prepare, cook and present dishes using specs and agreed ingredients.
  • Assist Senior Chefs with new dishes, menu changes and tastings.
  • Monitor portion control and wastage to maintain profit margins.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene and legislation.

Job description

Are you looking for a role where you can showcase your skills in a creative multi-outlet environment? Would you like to work varied hours each week and to have your Sunday's back and no split shifts? Do you enjoy working with and preparing fresh ingredients?

We are looking for a Chef de Partie to help create exceptional food across our venues. You'll prepare high-quality dishes and develop your experience by running and rotating on kitchen sections — garnish, larder, hot, or pastry.

Working under the guidance of the Executive Head Chef, you will prepare, bake and create food from scratch using fresh, locally sourced, ingredients. You'll have the opportunity to prepare food for our cafes, Rooftop Restaurant, Riverside Terrace and support with food for press nights, private events, and Co-Artistic Director's annual dinner.

This is a variable hours position based in Stratford-upon-Avon. The usual working hours are 9am – 7pm although the role will include some evening and weekend work with very few late finishes and currently no Sunday working.

Reporting to the Executive Head Chef, key areas of responsibility include:
  • Collaborating with the team to shape an outstanding food offer across multiple venues.
  • Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes using agreed ingredients and using specs.
  • Assisting the Senior Chefs in developing new dishes and menus, assisting with any menu changes and food tastings.
  • Monitoring portion control and wastage to maintain profit margins.
  • Ensuring full compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and legislative regulations.
We are looking for:

The closing date for applications is midnight on Monday 10 August.

The interviews will be in-person and will be held mid-late August and will include an interview and trade test.
