Job summary

Pembroke College in Oxford is seeking an experienced Chef de Partie to join a supportive, professional team delivering exceptional service to students, Fellows, staff and guests.

You will prepare high-quality meals while maintaining kitchen hygiene, supervising staff, and mentoring junior cooks, with opportunities for training and progression. Benefits include a university pension, generous holidays, free meals on duty, travel pass and cyclescheme.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food safety.

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality meals for students, staff and events, including formal dinners and special occasions.
  • Maintain cleanliness, food hygiene and kitchen organisation to high standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise kitchen staff during service for smooth operations.
  • Update HACCP paperwork and adhere to strict food safety regulations.
  • Oversee and mentor junior kitchen team members.

Role Responsibilities
  • Prepare high-quality meals for students, staff, and private events, including formal dinners and special occasions.
  • Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food hygiene, and kitchen organisation.

  • Update HACCP paperwork and adhere to strict food safety regulations.

What We're Looking For
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
  • Experience of working in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Strong culinary skills, including knife techniques and knowledge of food safety.

  • Effective teamwork and communication abilities.
