Job summary

Compass Group UK&I, ESS Defence, is recruiting an ambitious Chef to deliver high-quality food for Defence on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week).

You will prepare and serve delicious meals, oversee menus, and drive improvements while upholding hygiene standards and brand values. The role offers progression within a company that invests in people and rewards effort.

Shift patterns are 5 out of 7 days; join a team that values customer service, teamwork, and a positive kitchen culture.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent.
• Experience supervising a team.
• Experience in a similar Chef role.
• Food Hygiene certificate.
• Flexible approach to working.

Responsibilities

• Preparing delicious, high-quality food that delights our clients and customers.
• Overseeing and implementing menu changes.
• Identifying opportunities to improve our food services.
• Listening and acting on customer feedback to continuously improve.
• Supporting with the creation of new menus and creative food concepts.
• Representing Defence and maintaining a positive brand image.
• Monitoring inventories to keep kitchens well-stocked.
• Overseeing kitchen cleaning to maintain hygiene standards.
• Complying with Food Handling, Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations.
