Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified chef to work with fresh seasonal food, offering better work-life balance and flexible, part-time hours as a Bank Chef. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious meals for residents and lead the kitchen team in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring HACCP standards and budget adherence while maintaining a warm dining environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in leading a kitchen team or supervision role.
• Ability to plan and deliver nutritionally balanced menus for residents.
• Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality dishes.
• Create a warm, efficient and welcoming kitchen environment.
• Work within budget and control costs.
• Complete regular audits and stock checks.
• Assist in leading and motivating a team.

Job description

Are you a qualified chef looking to work with fresh seasonal food, with the opportunity to have more of a work life balance and make what you do matter?

This is a casual, part-time role offering flexible working. Working as a Bank Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. NEED TO HAVE

• A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Experience in helping lead and inspire a team
• A good understanding of nutrition
• Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
• The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home
• Good understanding of HACCP
