Job summary

Sodexo Ltd in York Hospital is seeking a Chef to join the kitchen team and prepare meals that support patient wellbeing. You will manage your own section, following recipes and high standards to deliver quality food on every shift.

This permanent role offers 37.5 hours per week, five days out of seven, with on-site facilities such as free parking and uniform provided. Sodexo Benefits accompany a dedicated, purpose-driven team environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Chef in quality-focused catering environment; healthcare experience is desirable.
• Good understanding of food safety, HACCP, allergens, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• Passion for producing great-quality food and delivering an excellent experience for patients and customers.
• Ability to work efficiently, follow recipes and instructions, and manage tasks effectively.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a positive and flexible approach.
• Good organisation, reliability and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn, develop and complete relevant training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality, nutritious and appealing food for patients, staff and visitors.
• Follow menus, recipes and dietary requirements to ensure food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard.
• Maintain excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and health and safety.
• Ensure the kitchen and all work areas are clean, safe and well organised throughout each shift.
• Support the smooth running of the kitchen and work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent service.
• Monitor food quality and presentation, reporting and resolving any issues promptly.
• Support special functions and provide cover for colleagues when require
