Sodexo at Nuffield Health York Hospital is seeking a dedicated Chef to join our patient-focused catering team in York. You will manage your own kitchen section, ensuring meals meet high standards and dietary requirements are observed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Chef in a quality-focused catering environment.
• Healthcare catering experience is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, allergens, hygiene and health & safety requirements.
• Ability to follow recipes, manage tasks and work efficiently.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills with a flexible approach.
• Good organisation, reliability and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality, nutritious meals for patients, staff and visitors.
• Follow menus and dietary requirements to ensure consistent presentation.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and allergen control.
• Keep kitchen areas clean, safe and well-organised throughout shifts.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver excellent service.
• Monitor food quality and resolve issues promptly.
• Provide cover for colleagues when required.

What you'll do:

• Prepare and deliver high-quality, nutritious and appealing food for patients, staff and visitors.
• Follow menus, recipes and dietary requirements to ensure food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard.
• Maintain excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and health and safety.
• Ensure the kitchen and all work areas are clean, safe and well organised throughout each shift.
• Support the smooth running of the kitchen and work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent service.
• Monitor food quality and presentation, reporting and resolving any issues promptly.
• Support special functions and provide cover for colleagues when require

What you bring:

• Previous experience working as a Chef in quality-focused catering environment; healthcare experience is desirable.
• A good understanding of food safety, HACCP, allergens, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• A passion for producing great-quality food and delivering an excellent experience for patients and customers.
• The ability to work efficiently, follow recipes and instructions, and manage tasks effectively.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a positive and flexible approach.
• Good organisation, reliability and attention to detail.
• A willingness to learn, develop and complete relevant training.
