Job summary

A leading catering service provider in Waterbeach is seeking a passionate Chef to prepare high-quality meals for residents. Job description

Waterbeach Lodge Care Home is currently seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our friendly catering team on a full‑time basis (35 hours per week). In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, well‑balanced meals that support the health and well‑being of our residents. Your food will do more than nourish – it will provide comfort, enjoyment, and a sense of routine to those in our care. You’ll be part of a welcoming, supportive team committed to high standards in care and hospitality.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve high-quality meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences
  • Maintain stock levels and ensure kitchen is fully supplied
  • Uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards, ensuring full compliance with food safety regulations
  • Supervise kitchen assistants where required
  • Record temperatures and complete kitchen documentation in line with health and safety procedures
  • Create a positive dining experience for residents and visitors alike
  • Flexible approach to shift patterns and weekend working
Qualifications
  • A genuine passion for cooking and creating homely, nourishing meals
  • Experience working as a Chef, preferably in a care home, healthcare, or similar setting
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (required)
  • City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent in Professional Cookery (desirable)
  • Knowledge of special diets and texture‑modified meals (an advantage)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A caring, patient, and respectful attitude towards older people
