As a Chef at Sodexo in Nuffield Health North Staffordshire Hospital, Clayton Road, Newcastle Under Lyme ST5 4DB, you’ll play a vital role in preparing high-quality meals that support patient wellbeing and enhance the overall dining experience. You’ll be responsible for managing your own section of the kitchen, ensuring every dish meets our high standards. What you’ll do:

Help with the running of the kitchen and support the head chef.

Assist with monthly stock takes and other assigned tasks.

Follow all company health and safety and food safety training provided.

Ensure prompt delivery of all services in line with company and client standards.

Ensure preparation and presentation methods comply with company policy and budgetary constraints.

Keep all areas clean and tidy, especially at the end of each shift.

Attend work in accordance with the company’s personal hygiene policy, wearing a clean, intact uniform.

Comply with any reasonable requests made by your line manager(s) within the required time frame.

Complete any reasonable requests made by Nuffield within the required time frame.

Ensure unit stores and other potential areas of loss are secured at all times, as directed by management.

Assist with any special functions that may occur outside regular working hours.

Report any customer complaints or compliments and take appropriate remedial action promptly.

Report any incidents such as accidents, fires, theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or other irregularities and take appropriate action.

Attend meetings and training courses as necessary.

Provide cover during periods of absence and sickness.

What you bring:

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) and at least 2 years’ experience as a chef
  • Strong culinary skills and a genuine passion for cooking
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a busy kitchen
  • Clear, respectful communication and a strong team spirit
