Job summary

Aramark UK at Dale Barracks, Liverpool Road, Chester, CH2 4BD is seeking a Chef to join our military catering team. You’ll prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner with focus on quality and portion control, following menu cycles in a busy kitchen environment.

Work as part of a collaborative team, mentor junior staff, assist with stock, deliveries and records, and maintain stringent hygiene standards. The role includes shift options, benefits, and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Culinary qualification (NVQ Level1/Level 2 or equivalent).
• A true team player with effective communication skills.
• Confident, flexible, and full of fresh ideas.
• Able to pass DBS and security vetting (UK resident for 3+ years).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner with good portion control.
• Deliver silver service for functions and hospitality events.
• Mentor and support fellow chefs and junior team members.
• Assist with deliveries, stock checks, orders and kitchen records.
• Keep fridges, hot cabinets and all areas spotless; complete daily paperwork.
• Participate in regular deep cleans to maintain high standards.

Location: Dale Barracks, Liverpool Road, Chester, CH2 4BD
Pay rate:£13.05 per hour
Contract type: Permanent, full-time, 37.5 per week (5 days over 7, occasional weekends)
Shift times: Hours range between 0530 and 20:30, 8-hour shifts with 30 min unpaid break

What you’ll be cooking up:

• Prepare and serve delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – with minimal waste and maximum flavour. Set 4 weekly menus so only need to be able to follow recipe card.
• Deliver silver service‑level dining for special functions and hospitality events.
• Collaborate with fellow chefs and mentor new team members – sharing your skills and raising the bar.
• Support with deliveries, stock checks, food orders, and kitchen records.
• Keep everything spotless – from fridges to hot cabinets – and complete daily due diligence paperwork.
• Take part in regular deep cleans to maintain our high standards.
