Job summary

Avon Search is recruiting an Assistant Chef for a highly regarded residential care home in Cawston, near Norwich. You will work with the Head Chef to prepare nutritious meals for residents, meeting dietary requirements and upholding high hygiene standards.

This part-time role offers 30 hours per week at £13.50 per hour, with paid breaks and ongoing training in a supportive, family-run environment. Prior kitchen experience in care homes or hospitality is desirable, with a Food Hygiene certificate

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen, care home or hospitality environment is desirable.
  • A passion for preparing fresh, nutritious food.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Organised, reliable and able to work well under pressure.
  • A caring and friendly approach with an understanding of nutrition in later life.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

The Role

As an Assistant Chef, you will work alongside the Head Chef to prepare nutritious, appetising meals that meet residents' individual dietary requirements while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.

Your responsibilities will include:
