Job summary

Advinia is hiring a Chef at Oxford Manor Care Home to join a dedicated catering team. You will craft daily meals for Residents, Staff and Visitors, working 40 hours per week and contributing to events and themed menus.

The role offers an hourly rate of £14.50, with 5.6 weeks annual leave, free parking, wellbeing support and opportunities for career development. You will follow HACCP and food hygiene standards while maintaining high quality service.

Qualifications

  • Experience in food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to plan menus and manage stock efficiently.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP procedures.
  • Experience in catering for multiple groups (Residents, staff, visitors).
  • Awareness of dietary requirements and safe food handling.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day running of the kitchen and catering operations.
  • Maintain stock rotation and storage procedures.
  • Prepare, plan and cook meals to a high standard, including special dietary needs.
  • Serve Residents, Staff and Visitors in a professional manner.
  • Prepare foods for events and assist with cost control.

From World Food Day to festive moments like Christmas and Easter, you get to add your own flair and keep things exciting, we have four weekly themed events as well as Resident choice menus.

As a Chef you will be:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen. 
  • Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
  • Preparing, planning and cooking meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
  • Serving Residents, Staff and Visitors with food and beverage in a professional and courteous services manner.
  • Preparing and producing foods for events.
  • Participating in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
  • Adhering to the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ standards and record keeping.
  • Adhering to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
  • Taking full shift responsibility for the catering operation
  • Help to create new menus ensuring meals are of a high quality.
  • Correctly filing of all paperwork in relation to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP) i.e. Fridge temperatures, food temperature logs and cleaning schedules
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • To be 18 years or older
  • GCSE or equivalent English
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Basic Food Hygiene (essential)
  • Intermediate Food hygiene (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a similar environment
  • Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budget experience
