Job summary

Tech Connect Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Chassis team. You will design chassis structures and sheet metal components in 3D CAD and produce 2D production drawings, while supporting the production line and resolving build issues through engineering changes.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in mechanical design (ideally automotive), a solid grasp of stress, fatigue, materials, and design method, and is proficient in CAD (Solid Edge), BS8888, and BOM creation.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND/Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (essential).
• M/BEng or Chartered Engineer (desirable).
• 3+ years industry experience in mechanical design, ideally within automotive or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals including stress, strain, fatigue, material specifications, and design methodology.
• Experience with manufacturing processes, design for manufacture & assembly, and problem-solving.
• Proficient in CAD (ideally Solid Edge), BS8888 drawing standards, and BOM creation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, engineer, and validate new systems and components from concept to production.
• Communicate design requirements clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Support product launches and provide engineering assistance to resolve production and field issues.
• Investigate service issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.
• Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team, maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
