Job summary

Tech Connect Group is recruiting on behalf of a client to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to the Chassis team. The role focuses on design for manufacture and heavy fabrications, taking concepts from idea through to production.

You should have 2+ years in mechanical design, a solid grasp of engineering fundamentals, and proficiency with Solid Edge CAD and BS8888 drawing standards. Flexible work options are available, with up to two days home working.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably automotive.
• Strong fundamentals: stress, strain, fatigue, materials, design methods.
• Experience with manufacturing, DFMA, and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop, engineer, and validate new systems and components from concept to production.
• Communicate design requirements clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Support product launches and assist with production and field issue resolution.
• Investigate service issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.
• Collaborate within a cross-functional team with a strong attention to detail.

Overview:

We re recruiting on behalf of a client for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Chassis' Team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop innovative concepts and design the next generation of market-leading products, supporting the team from concept through to production.

We're looking for someone witha background in design for manufacture/ heavy fabrications design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, engineer, and validate new systems and components from concept to production.
• Communicate design requirements clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Support product launches and provide engineering assistance to resolve production and field issues.
• Investigate service issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.
• Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team, maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.

Person Profile / Requirements:

Qualifications:

• HNC/HND/Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (essential).
• M/BEng or Chartered Engineer (desirable).

Experience & Skills:

• 2+ years industry experience in mechanical design, ideally within automotive or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals including stress, strain, fatigue, material specifications, and design methodology.
• Experience with manufacturing processes, design for manufacture & assembly, and problem-solving.
• Proficient in CAD (ideally Solid Edge), BS8888 drawing standards, and BOM creation.
