Job summary

Tech Connect Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Chassis team in the United Kingdom. You will design chassis structures and sheet metal components using 3D CAD and provide production drawings, while supporting the line and tackling build issues.

You will collaborate across functions to validate systems, meet design-for-manufacture requirements, and drive quality across stages of development and release. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Essential HNC/HND or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
• M/BEng or Chartered Engineer is desirable.
• 3+ years industry experience in mechanical design; automotive context preferred.

Mechanical Design Engineer – Chassis team

• 4 day week. 37 hours
• GBP55–75ph DOE Inside IR35
• Starting asap

Overview:

Hands–on design of chassis structures and sheet metal/fabricated components 3D CAD and 2D production drawings. You'll also support the production line directly, investigating build issues as they arise and releasing fixes through the engineering change process. Good understanding of how supplied components (axles etc.) integrate into the chassis needed.

• Support product launches and provide engineering assistance to resolve production and field issues.
• Investigate service issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.

Person Profile / Requirements:

Qualifications:

• HNC/HND/Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (essential).
• M/BEng or Chartered Engineer (desirable).

Experience & Skills:

• 3+ years industry experience in mechanical design, ideally within automotive or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals including stress, strain, fatigue, material specifications, and design methodology.
• Experience with manufacturing processes, design for manufacture & assembly, and problem–solving.
• Proficient in CAD (ideally Solid Edge), BS8888 drawing standards, and BOM creation.
