Job summary

Octavius Infrastructure Ltd. is seeking a Chartered Senior Technical Manager to provide technical leadership across highways and regional civil engineering sectors. The role focuses on temporary works leadership, engineering assurance and people development throughout the project lifecycle.

You will lead technical reviews, support risk management, contribute to bids and mentor engineers while collaborating with clients and supply chain across the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (ICE or IStructE).
• Significant civil/construction sector experience.
• Strong temporary works design knowledge and reviews.
• Understanding of buildability, sequencing and risk management.
• Experience delivering practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Ability to coach and develop engineers at varying career levels.
• Experience leading teams and contributing to governance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across highways and regional civil engineering sectors.
• Develop, review and challenge temporary works solutions and methods.
• Act as technical authority, supporting project teams with complex challenges.
• Undertake design reviews and independent checks for safety and efficiency.
• Support technical risk management and engineering assurance across projects.
• Contribute to tender submissions and delivery strategies.
• Mentor temporary works coordinators and engineers.
• Lead and grow a small engineering team.
• Collaborate with designers, clients and supply chain for outcomes.
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement in engineering.
