Job summary
United Utilities, a FTSE 100 water company, seeks a Principal Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and governance across the organisation. You will mentor engineers, develop standards, and influence engineering strategy with researchers and universities.
You will lead complex capital programmes, ensure safe design principles, and raise the profile of United Utilities in the wider engineering community through industry engagement and technical publications.
Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with substantial post-chartership experience.
- Able to influence engineering decisions across a large organisation.
- Experience delivering capital projects and strategic programmes.
- Strong knowledge of water, wastewater and sludge treatment processes.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
- Provide civil engineering leadership and governance across the business.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams delivering high-quality outputs.
- Drive engineering governance, standards and technical assurance.
- Support major capital programmes and strategic projects.
- Develop engineers and mentor talent toward professional registration.
