Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Chartered Mechanical Engineer to join its Building Engineering team in Belfast. You will lead the design and delivery of Mechanical Building Services for a diverse portfolio, from concept through to delivery, across science, technology, rail, higher education, healthcare, residential and industrial sectors.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status with IMechE/CIBSE or equivalent.
• Strong experience in Mechanical Building Services design across sectors.
• Proficiency with HVAC systems and sustainable building design.
• Experience delivering complex projects from concept to detailed design.
• Experience with building performance modelling (IES or similar).
• Knowledge of renewable technologies and low-carbon building systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of Mechanical Building Services across multiple projects.
• Develop sustainable mechanical design solutions balancing performance and cost.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specs, drawings and BIM models.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Conduct thermal comfort, energy modelling and performance assessments (IES).
• Support integration of renewable energy technologies into designs.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and client requirements.
• Manage project programmes, deliverables and resources.
• Provide mentoring to junior engineers and contribute to BD activities.
