Job summary

Service Care in Kent is recruiting a Chartered Structural Engineer to take ownership of a varied project portfolio, leading design from concept to completion. You will mentor graduates, manage budgets and liaise with clients, architects and authorities.

The role offers a clear progression pathway within a growing consultancy, with a permanent, full-time position and competitive salary (£55,000–£70,000). Based in Kent, projects cover London, Essex, and Kent, with site visits as required.

Qualifications

• MIStructE Chartered status is essential.
• CEng registration with Engineering Council required.
• Five+ years' post-graduate UK consultancy experience in structural design.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
• Existing right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structural design and calculations for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
• Lead projects from feasibility through to construction.
• Undertake assessments, surveys and inspections of existing structures.
• Use structural analysis software to develop safe, cost-effective solutions.
• Prepare and review technical reports, drawings and design documentation.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and authorities.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and deliverables.
• Mentor graduates and technicians; check colleagues' work.
• Ensure compliance with BS, Eurocodes and CDM 2015.

Chartered Structural Engineer Location: Kent, with projects across London, Essex and Kent Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

An established and growing structural engineering consultancy is looking to recruit a Chartered Structural Engineer to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take ownership of a varied project portfolio, lead structural design work from concept through to completion, and contribute to the development of a growing consultancy, with a clear progression pathway towards Associate Director level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver structural design and calculations across a range of materials, including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
• Manage projects from initial feasibility and concept design through to construction.
• Undertake structural assessments, building surveys and inspections of existing structures.
• Use structural analysis and design software to develop safe, compliant and cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications and design documentation.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities and other design professionals.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
• Check the work of graduate engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and mentoring.
• Ensure compliance with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes and CDM 2015 requirements.

Essential Requirements:

• BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent.
• Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration with the Engineering Council.
• At least five years' post-graduate experience in structural engineering design within a UK consultancy.
• Proven ability to manage projects independently from inception through to completion.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis, design calculations, Eurocodes and UK National Annexes.
• Experience reviewing and checking other engineers' work.
• Confident communication skills and experience dealing directly with clients.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regular site visits.
• Existing right to work in the UK.
• Experience with temporary works, drainage design, SuDS, BIM/Revit or Party Wall matters would be advantageous.
