Job summary

Aldwych Consulting in Plymouth is seeking a Chartered Building Surveyor to take a lead role on diverse projects, engaging with clients and delivering from concept to completion. The role offers hybrid working, a clear path to ownership, and meaningful impact across residential, commercial, health, heritage, and public sector schemes.

You will operate across Building Surveying and Project Management, managing feasibility to delivery, coordinating teams, and producing technical documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in Building Surveying.
• Experience within a consultancy environment.
• APC achieved or in progress.
• Flexibility to attend project sites when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead on projects from feasibility through to final delivery.
• Act as key point of contact for clients.
• Oversee budgets, timelines, and risk management.
• Carry out surveys, inspections, and technical assessments.
• Produce specifications, reports, and tender documentation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
• Support design, procurement, and construction stages.

What you'll be doing day-to-day as the Chartered Building Surveyor:

You’ll operate in a dual capacity across Building Surveying and Project Management, giving you a well-rounded and engaging workload.

Your role will involve:

• Managing projects from initial feasibility through to final delivery
• Acting as the key point of contact for clients
• Overseeing budgets, timelines, and risk management
• Carrying out surveys, inspections, and technical assessments
• Producing specifications, reports, and tender documentation
• Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external consultants

Requirements

You’ll be someone who enjoys responsibility, communicates well with clients, and takes a proactive approach to delivering projects.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Around 3+ years' experience in Building Surveying
• Experience within a consultancy environment
• A mix of project and professional services exposure
• Knowledge across pre- and post-contract duties
• APC achieved or in progress
• A collaborative and personable working style
• Flexibility to attend project sites when needed
