Job summary

Navantia UK in Methil is seeking a Chargehand – Welder to lead a small team while performing hands-on welding duties. You will work under the Line Supervisor to meet safety, quality, and performance targets.

The role combines practical welding with team leadership responsibilities, requiring meticulous attention to PPE safety, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Valid UK Driving Licence.
• Proven hands-on experience as a tradesperson.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, allocate work, and supervise a team of approximately 8–10.
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with plans.
• Promote and enforce PPE and safety compliance at all times.
• Carry out quality checks and report findings to the Line Supervisor.
• Ensure daily equipment and vehicle checks are completed and defects reported.
• Maintain machinery and tools, ensuring they are clean, safe, and fit for purpose.
• Identify training needs and support development within your team.
• Drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
• Provide cover for the Line Supervisor when required.
• Support operations during out-of-hours or emergency situations.
