The Role

An rare and exciting opportunity has become available to lead our Neonatal Community Outreach Service. This role holds responsibility and accountability for the Neonatal Outreach Service and oversees the delivery of special and transitional neonatal care.

You will be responsible and accountable for the Neonatal Outreach Service and oversee the delivery of special and transitional neonatal care.

  • Co-ordinate SCBU/TCU/community service
  • Facilitate and support expansion of a 7-day community liaison service
  • Provide day to day clinical oversight and coordination
  • Provide a continuous leadership role, which empowers staff to maximise their performance through facilitating, coaching, influencing and mentoring skills especially with the application of improvement science
  • Support the education of Medical/Nursing staff with Outreach services
  • Work closely with Clinical Leads on a regular basis to progress improvement work and development of the service
  • Liase with specialist services including Child protection/Safeguarding Specialist Midwife/social work etc.
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues in other health boards, Scottish Perinatal Network, Scottish Patient Safety Programme and others
  • Facilitate and support staff with patient flow through the neonatal service, promoting early discharge which incorporates additional care needs
  • Provide a link to transitional care in the postnatal ward with education and development of staff and promotion of late preterm pathways, aiming to keep mothers and babies together.
  • Lead on data collection within the area

What we'll need you to bring

  • Registered Midwife/ Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
  • Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
  • The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA drivers licence if relevant – i.e Community Posts

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Extensive demonstrable midwifery/nursing experience
