Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a Junior Clinical Fellow in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery for a 12-month fixed contract at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The role involves assisting with inpatient and outpatient services in a dedicated maxillofacial unit, starting on August 6, 2025.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have undertaken a UK foundation programme within 3.5 years prior to the advertised start date.
  • Experience in a clinical setting related to oral and maxillofacial surgery is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with procedures in the maxillofacial unit.
  • Provide support in inpatient and outpatient services.

Start date for this post: 6th August 2025

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Regional Maxillofacial unit based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on a fixed term contract for 12 months.

The Unit has dedicated inpatient operating theatres and outpatient treatment capacity, in-patient, ward access to ITU and HDU as well as all the support services necessary to provide a full maxillofacial service. In addition we are co-located with the children's hospital and provide cleft and craniofacial services. The imaging service are good with excellent facilities and the availability of interventional radiology. The outpatient department is supported with a comprehensive maxillofacial technical laboratory, a dedicated photography department and 3D imaging facilities. There are very close links with the departments of neurosurgery, occuloplastics and ENT surgery.

Applicants who have not undertaken a UK foundation programme within 3.5 years of the advertised post start date, will be asked to submit a Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST). The CREST form must be completed by a consultant who has worked with you for a minimum continuous period of three months whole-time equivalent wholly within the 3.5 years prior to the advertised post start date for which you are applying.
