ghd in Cambridge is seeking an experienced CFD Engineer to join the New Product Development team. You will apply CFD, thermal analysis, and first‑principles engineering to inform design decisions from concept through validation, including hands‑on prototyping and testing.

You'll work with multidisciplinary teams to optimise product performance, reduce development risk, and deliver safer, high‑performance hair styling technologies for millions of users worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of CFD, thermal analysis or simulation experience.
• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics.
• Experience with CFD/FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, ANSA).
• Hands‑on prototype design, testing and data correlation experience.
• CAD proficiency (SolidWorks/Creo).
• Fluency with Python for modelling and automation.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience in consumer products or handheld devices is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Develop and apply CFD models to analyse airflow, heat transfer and fluid flow.
• Use simulation‑driven engineering to optimise performance and UX.
• Build, validate and refine CFD/thermal models with test data.
• Design, build and evaluate prototypes to validate new tech.
• Conduct feasibility studies and early‑stage innovation investigations.
• Translate simulation results into practical design recommendations.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electronics, Systems, Science and Product teams.
• Apply first‑principles engineering across CFD, heat transfer and thermodynamics.
• Develop analytical tools, workflows and automated simulations with Python.
• Interpret and communicate technical data to support decisions.
• Improve simulation accuracy through testing and model correlation.
• Challenge assumptions and identify innovative solutions.
