CrossReach Trading Ltd invites applications for a Centre Worker to work with children under 12 and their families, building relationships and helping families thrive.

Job description

Every family needs support sometimes. At Daisy Chain, we’re there to make sure children and families have somewhere welcoming, supportive and non-judgemental to turn to.

As a Centre Worker, you’ll work with children under 12 and their families, getting to know them, understanding what matters to them and helping them build on their strengths. You’ll provide practical and emotional support, create opportunities for children to thrive and help families feel more confident and connected.

Our approach combines play, nurture and family support, with a focus on early intervention and building relationships that can make a lasting difference.

What You’ll Do

• Build positive, trusting relationships with children, parents and carers
• Create a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for families
• Work alongside families to understand their needs, strengths and the challenges they may be facing
• Help families develop practical strategies to support home life, relationships and wellbeing
• Use play and nurturing approaches to support children’s wellbeing and development
• Work with social work teams and other agencies to connect families with the right support
• Signpost families to additional services and resources when needed
• Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding and wellbeing concerns
• Support and guide volunteers working within the service
• Keep accurate records and contribute to planning and reviewing the support provided
• Bring your ideas and experience to help us continue developing the service

The role is about working with families, recognising what is already strong and helping them build confidence and resilience for the future.

About You

You’ll be approachable, compassionate and able to build genuine relationships with children and families from a wide range of backgrounds. You’ll have experience of working with children and/or families, alongside good communication and teamwork skills and the confidence to work independently when needed. You’ll hold a minimum SVQ2/HNC in Social Work, Social Care, Early Years or an equivalent qualification, or be willing to work towards one. Knowledge of GIRFEC, Realising the Ambition, the SSSC Codes of Practice, UNCRC or The Promise would be an advantage, as would previous experience within social work, health, education or the voluntary sector.
