Job summary

Brent Council is seeking an experienced Cemeteries Manager to lead Brent's Bereavement Service across the borough. You will oversee cemeteries, burial operations, and a diverse team while managing budgets and ensuring compliance with health and safety and memorial safety requirements.

The role supports a new Bereavement Strategy, with leadership transformation and delivery improvements to strengthen operational capacity. Hybrid working and stakeholder engagement are key.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience managing cemetery, bereavement, or frontline operational services.
• Strong understanding of burial legislation, cemetery management and memorial safety.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality services.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of Brent's cemeteries and burial operations.
• Oversee an operational team, promote high performance and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and health and safety requirements.
• Support service transformation and implementation of the Bereavement Strategy.
