Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a Cellular Pathology Section Manager and Training Lead. The role spans across the Mortuaries and Histology departments at multiple sites with a 37.5-hour week and Band 7 NHS AfC.

You will lead staff training, ensure competency and training compliance, mentor portfolios, and drive CPD and learning across Histology and Mortuary teams. The post requires HCPC registration, IBMS qualifications, and proven leadership with a focus on

Qualifications

• HCPC registration to practice in clinical pathology.
• Postgraduate IBMS/IBMS Specialist Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience leading in a Clinical Laboratory environment.
• Ongoing CPD evidence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage the departmental training programme for all staff as directed by the Pathology Department Manager and ensure these are co-ordinated across the Network.
• Maintain records of training and competence for staff in all sections.
• Encourage continual professional development and uphold high knowledge standards for all staff.
• Organise rotations, plan personal development reviews and support agreed objectives.
• Attend external training/meetings and translate learning into network service improvements.
• Organise, prepare and deliver formal training sessions to groups with high theoretical content.
• Develop specialist knowledge in a departmental section while being able to cover Band 7 duties across sites as required.
