Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist with specialist knowledge in Cellular Pathology to join the team for maternity cover at Cheltenham General Hospital. You will support cancer patient care, ensuring timely results and flexible hours up to 7pm, with possible Saturday work.

You will work in all Histology Laboratory areas, perform routine tissue sectioning and staining, and rotate through Immunocytochemistry and Molecular Pathology.

Qualifications

• BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent required.
• HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist.
• IBMS Specialist Diploma or equivalent with specialist Cellular Pathology knowledge.
• Proficiency in MS Office and histology prep techniques.

Responsibilities

• Work across all areas of Histology Laboratory.
• Participate in Biomedical Scientist cut-up and routine tissue processing.
• Rotate through Immunocytochemistry and Molecular Pathology areas.
• Support cancer target turnaround times and quality control schemes.
• Contribute to service development and new techniques.
