Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Preston is advertising a part-time Consultant post in Cellular Pathology at Royal Preston Hospital. The role will work Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with no on-call expectation.

The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive histopathology service, develop specialist interests to complement Cancer services, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective departmental administration and governance.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment and appointment of junior medical staff, BMSs and secretarial staff having dealings with the histopathology department.
• The arrangement of rosters of staff, the allocation of duties to them and their instruction in necessary organisational matters.
• Co-ordination with staff in other professional disciplines and health care workers outside the hospital.
• Attendance at Board meetings and other committees when pathology issues are being discussed and to participate in resource management.
• Continuing management responsibility by agreement with other consultants in the Cellular Pathology Department, specifically for the service in his/her charge and for administrative duties associated with these services and the proper functioning of the department.
