Brandon James Ltd is seeking a CDM Principal Designer to join their Health & Safety team in Bristol. You will lead Principal Designer duties and guide design teams through CDM 2015 requirements, ensuring safety is integrated from the early design stage.

The role offers exposure to diverse projects, with progression opportunities and a supportive CPD programme as you advance your professional qualifications and career in health & safety.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
• APS and/or IOSH membership.
• 3+ years’ experience within CDM / construction Health & Safety.
• Experience delivering Principal Designer duties.
• A relevant construction, design, surveying or Health & Safety qualification.
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence working directly with clients and design teams.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Acting as Principal Designer under CDM 2015.
• Planning, managing and monitoring the pre-construction phase.
• Assisting clients with the preparation of Pre-Construction Information.
• Reviewing drawings and design information for foreseeable Health & Safety risks.
• Coordinating with Architects, Engineers and other Designers.
• Chairing and attending design risk meetings.
• Producing and maintaining design risk registers.
• Reviewing contractor documentation.
• Undertaking site inspections and Health & Safety audits.
• Preparing and reviewing Health & Safety Files.
• Supporting clients and designers in meeting their duties under CDM 2015.

CDM Principal Designer

A highly respected multidisciplinary construction and property consultancy is seeking a CDM Principal Designer to join their expanding Health & Safety team in Bristol.

The successful CDM Principal Designer will become part of an established team of specialists providing Principal Designer and construction Health & Safety services across a varied portfolio of projects, ranging from smaller refurbishment schemes through to complex, high-profile developments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious CDM Principal Designer who wants greater exposure to technically interesting projects while being supported towards further professional development and progression.

The CDM Principal Designer Role

As the successful CDM Principal Designer, you will work closely with clients and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure Health & Safety is properly considered and managed throughout the design process.

The Successful CDM Principal Designer

The successful CDM Principal Designer will ideally hold:

• A relevant construction, design, surveying or Health & Safety qualification
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence working directly with clients and design teams
• Full UK driving licence
