Job summary

City of Kingsland in Kingsland, GA seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator with a Class B CDL to maintain rights-of-ways, drainage systems, and road infrastructure. The role involves operating bulldozers, loaders, dump trucks, and other heavy equipment, performing roadside maintenance, repairs, and sewer/water line work.

Responsibilities include traffic control, site preparation for events, and routine equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and two years of related experience
• Ability to operate track hoes, motor graders, laser transits, probing rods, saws, bucket trucks, sewer vac trucks, dump trucks, blowers, back hoes, mowers, clamp trucks, front end loaders, tractors, leaf trucks, chipper trucks
• Requires Class B CDL License
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation
• Knowledge of carpentry
• Knowledge of plumbing and distribution systems, plant operation, and meter operation
• Knowledge of masonry
• Knowledge of welding and cutting equipment
• Knowledge of safety rules
• Ability to operate various types of equipment
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations

Responsibilities

• Mows and weeds City grounds including rights-of-way and sidewalks.
• Removes tree limbs and operates chipper truck.
• Drives flatbed and small dump trucks for hauling materials.
• Operates heavy equipment such as bulldozers and loaders.
• Serves as traffic control flagger and sets safety signs.
• Installs and repairs sewer lines, water taps, meters and fire hydrants.
• Repairs water mains and locates utilities before repairs.
• Maintains treatment plant grounds and cleans sludge beds.
• Repairs concrete driveways, sidewalks, and storm drains.
• Sets up and operates laser transit for ditches and pipes.
