Job summary

London Borough of Merton is seeking an CCTV Control Room Operator to monitor public spaces, support the Police and partner agencies, and help prevent crime in compliance with data protection and surveillance laws.

You will liaise with Police and council services, process footage, maintain incident logs, and contribute to service improvements while remaining vigilant and adaptable to shift patterns.

Qualifications

• Experience in a CCTV control room or similar monitoring environment.
• Strong observation, communication and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to remain focused and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and CCTV legislation.
• Commitment to equality, diversity, customer service and health & safety.
• Flexibility to work shifts.

Join our CCTV team and help keep Merton’s communities safe. Working in the CCTV Control Room, you will monitor public spaces, support the Police and partner agencies, and help prevent and detect crime while ensuring compliance with data protection, human rights and surveillance legislation.

• SIA CCTV Public Space Surveillance Licence required (or willingness to obtain).
