Job summary

The Mayhew Animal Home in North West London is seeking a Cattery Carer on a fixed-term 6‑month contract. The role involves caring for cats, feeding, cleaning and enrichment, and supporting behaviour assessments, within a 35-hour week across Tue–Sat as rota dictated.

Cattery Carer (Fixed-term contract - 6 months)

Location: North West London

Hours per week: 35 (Tuesday to Saturday, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, as dictated on the rota)

Salary: £ 25,463.02 per annum

We are recruiting a Cattery Carer who will share our compassion and commitment for animal welfare.

Working with staff and volunteers across the Home, you will have a hand in helping all the cats in our care, from feeding, cleaning, behaviourally assessing and socialising to rehoming. This can be physically and emotionally demanding but is also hugely rewarding; you can view some of our amazing rescue stories here.

We operate seven days a week. The successful candidate will work five days per week, Tuesday to Saturday, typically between 9:00am and 5:00pm or 8:00am and 4:00pm, depending on the cattery rota.

In exceptional circumstances, such as annual leave or sickness absence, occasional evening cover (3:00pm to 11:00pm) may be required. As evening cover may involve supporting the dog care team, candidates must be confident in handling and working with dogs.

Generally, you will:

• Helping to meet the specific needs of cats in our care by feeding, cleaning, enrichment, grooming and administering pre-prescribed medications
• Making sure the cattery and associated areas and equipment are clean and maintained
• Helping with carrying out behaviour assessments
• Helping updating and maintaining accurate records, including health, behavioural and enrichment care plans
