Job summary

Basildon Hospital is seeking a Restaurant Supervisor to lead the catering team in the staff and visitor restaurant. You will supervise a small team, ensure high standards of food safety, presentation and service, and support day-to-day operations.

The role requires hands-on leadership, excellent communication, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient and visitor dining experiences within the NHS Trust.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic, motivated and customer-focused individual with previous catering or hospitality supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding service.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and supporting a small catering team, ensuring high standards of performance, customer service and compliance are maintained.
• Assisting with staff rostering, annual leave management, sickness reporting and the effective deployment of staff to meet service needs.
• Undertaking basic food preparation, including the preparation, packing, labelling, display and chilling of sandwiches and other food items.
• Serving food and beverages in line with agreed standards for quality, presentation and portion control.
• Ensuring all food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures are followed in accordance with Trust policies and legislation.
• Monitoring stock levels and reducing waste through effective stock rotation and storage practices.
• Providing excellent customer service to patients, visitors and staff, creating a welcoming dining experience.
• Supporting the Catering Management Team in maintaining an efficient, safe and high-quality restaurant service.
• Assisting with cash handling, sales monitoring and the promotion of retail offers to support departmental income generation.
• Leading by example to create a positive team culture and encourage high levels of staff engagement and morale.
