Catering Supervisor - Term-Time Lead & Food Hygiene

Job summary

GFM is seeking a Catering Supervisor to oversee delivered services at our facilities. You will supervise the team, support the manager, and ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, and QMS requirements while delivering within budget.

The role is term-time only, Monday to Friday, 7am–2pm, with travel to Rochdale and North Yorkshire schools as needed. Responsibilities include supervising food service, leading teams, managing stock and budgets, and ensuring HACCP and food hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar catering supervisory role.
• Level 2 catering qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ).
• Familiar with service level agreements and ability to deliver against them.
• Experience working to a set menu and within a defined cost-per-head structure.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Analytical thinker with timely problem-solving.
• Strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee delivered catering services and supervise the departmental team.
• Deputise for the Catering Manager as required.
• Lead and develop teams with a focus on food hygiene training.
• Monitor budget, stock levels and waste reduction.
• Ensure HACCP compliance and high food hygiene standards.
• Develop menus with the Catering Manager to ensure variety.
• Ensure orders and service reflect client requirements.
