Job summary

Ministry of Justice is seeking a catering supervisor to lead a professional industrial kitchen team within a prison environment. You will oversee offenders, ensuring nutritious meals for the prison population while mentoring them to gain skills and qualifications for better outcomes after release.

The role offers a 37-hour week with shift patterns, includes a 20% unsocial hours allowance, and a Band 4 salary of £41,328. Training and progression opportunities are part of Civil Service benefits.

Qualifications

• Level 2 certificate in food production within hospitality and catering or equivalent.
• Food hygiene certificate Level 2.
• Food hygiene certificate Level 3 (intermediate level).
• Working towards a relevant vocational qualification at Level 3 or already hold formal qualifications in catering e.g. City and Guilds 7061/7062 or NVQ Level 3.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the work of offenders to prepare and cook quality, nutritional meals for the entire prison.
• Support offenders to learn new catering skills and work towards qualifications to increase employability upon release.
