Job description

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Unit Catering Supervisor/Manager to lead our school catering service and ensure pupils and staff receive a high-quality, safe and efficient food service.

You will oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, lead the catering team and ensure consistently high standards of food, hygiene, service and customer care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise the preparation and service of breakfast and lunchtime meals.
  • Prepare and cook a range of meals, including special diets and allergy-safe meals.
  • Manage food safety, hygiene, HACCP, COSHH and Natasha's Law requirements.
  • Lead, organise and support the catering team, including rotas, induction and training.
  • Manage stock, ordering, resources, cash handling and relevant administration.
  • Promote the catering service and encourage meal uptake.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and report any defects or incidents.
  • Work closely with the Principal and school staff to deliver an effective service.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, presentation and professionalism.
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in catering, ideally in a supervisory or management role.
  • Has strong food safety and hygiene knowledge.
  • Can confidently lead and motivate a team.
  • Is organised, reliable and able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Understands the importance of special dietary and allergy requirements.
  • Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Takes pride in delivering high-quality food and service.
Experience
  • NVQ Level 2 in Food preparation OR
  • 2 years experience in a catering setting.
