Job summary

Edsential Community Interest Company is seeking a Catering Supervisor or Kitchen Assistant for term-time operations in schools across Cheshire West, Wirral, Halton and Flintshire. The role is a 30-hour week with a fixed hourly rate and a salary paid across 12 months, supporting school catering services at Barnton Community Nursery & Primary School.

You will lead kitchen staff, ensure high hygiene standards, manage allergens, and coordinate with school staff while benefiting from training, DBS

Qualifications

• Previous experience of running a school kitchen would be advantageous
• Ability to empower and lead a team
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Flexible to work within other Edsential units as required
• Comfortable working with IT systems - Full training will be provided on induction

Responsibilities

• Leading and supervising kitchen staff
• Preparing and presenting food to high hygiene and safety standards
• Allergen management and dietary handling
• Health and safety checks, allergen management and record-keeping
• Stock control, food orders and quality assurance
• Managing relationships with school staff (Teachers, Business Managers, Head Teachers)
• Timesheets, absence management and probation meetings

If successful, you will be supporting the Catering operations in running the service atBarnton Community Nursery & Primary School. You’ll be representing both Edsential and our school to ensure that all pupils have the best quality food and customer experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising theKitchen staffin the following duties:

• Preparing and presenting food to a high standardof hygiene and safe practice
• Allergen Management and dietrary
• Completion of all kitchen administration, i.e Health and Safety Checks, Allergen Management
• Work to maintain accurate records and ensure kitchen targets are met, i.e stock control, food orders, quality assurance
• Manage relationships with School Staff such as Teachers, Business Managers and Head Teachers
• Management of kitchen staff i.e processing timesheets, absence management and probation meetings
