Job summary

Middlesbrough College is hiring a friendly Food Service Assistant to join our Commercial Catering team. The role is 20 hours per week, term time only (36 weeks), with shifts that may start early at 7:30am and run until 8:00pm, including weekend work as required.

Qualifications

• Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Be willing to achieve a Basic Certificate in Food Hygiene.
• Be willing to undertake and complete all qualifications as specified by the course.
• NVQ Level 1 in food preparation – Desirable.
• A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation, cooking, delivery, and presentation of meals to required standards.
• Maintain service display area and stock to presentation specifications.
• Ensure cleanliness of counter, service area, tables and floors throughout service.
• Know product prices and process sales accurately through the college cash system.
• Communicate effectively with staff, learners and customers to coordinate tasks.
