Job summary

Coventry City Council is seeking a part-time catering assistant to join our team. The role involves preparing and presenting hot lunches, planning menus to meet dietary needs, ordering supplies and managing stock, with a strong focus on hygiene and safety.

Hours are 25 per week, generally 9:30am to 3:00pm, across a 5-day week. A DBS check is required; applicants must have Right to Work in the UK; sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, hospitality or food preparation environment.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Willing to achieve Level 2 Food Safety if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present hot lunchtime service.
• Prepare meals including fresh produce and vegetables.
• Order supplies, rotate stock and manage food waste.
• Support menu planning for varied dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Complete food safety checks and records.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and food hygiene regulations.
• Provide friendly, responsive service to tenants.
