Job summary

Yeo Valley Group is seeking a reliable Catering Assistant to support Acorn House canteen and other sites. You’ll help with food production, preparation and front/back of house services in line with Food Safety procedures.

The role operates a 7:30–15:30 shift, 40 hours per week, with two weekends out of four. You will be serving staff and assisting the chef, ensuring high presentation standards and accurate cash handling.

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum continuous experience in a catering role.
• Food Safety Level 2 mandatory.
• Allergy Awareness qualification required.
• HACCP training completed.
• Experience working in a catering environment with chefs.
• Experience as a cook and in menu planning/costing.
• Excellent customer service and driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Serve staff with hot and cold food according to procedures.
• Assist with food production and kitchen tasks with fresh ingredients.
• Ensure displays, counters and seating are presented to high standards.
• Front and back of house duties including cash handling and vending.
• Complete daily/weekly tasks per procedures and security rules.

Job description

So, what will I be doing?

If you're looking for a stable, secure job within catering then look no further.

You'll be responsible for supporting with the catering and hospitality at our Acorn House canteen (and other Yeo Valley sites as requested). You'll help with food production, preparation and other front and back of house services as required, in line with our Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures.

Working 40 hours per week on a 7:30-15:30 shift pattern, with a requirement to work two weekends out of four.

• Serving Yeo Valley staff with hot and cold food as required and in line with department procedures
• Take responsibility for the preparation of hot and cold food using fresh ingredients and assist the chef with daily tasks within the kitchen
• Ensuring all displays, counters and seating areas are presented to the highest standards
• Front and back of house services as required food prep, kitchen porter duties, vending and snack replenishment
• Completing daily and weekly tasks as directed and in accordance with Weekly and Daily procedures
• Observing and complying with all procedures relating to cash handling and security /Till operating/cash handling
