Job summary

Derbyshire County Council is seeking a dedicated catering assistant for Ecclesfold Resource Centre in the East Midlands. You will support meal preparation from a fixed menu, ensure high hygiene standards, and help manage stock and dietary needs for older adults.

The role requires flexibility across 7 days, 10am–2pm, with benefits including pension scheme, annual leave, and development opportunities. Contact for informal enquiries is provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience in food preparation for large groups is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, and dietary requirements (NVQ food hygiene certificate upon appointment).
  • Understanding of nutrition and hydration for older adults.

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled catering assistant to join our friendly team at Ecclesfold Resource Centre. If you love being part of a team, creating nutritious, tasty meals and want a role where your work truly matters, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

What you’ll do:
  • Assist the cook with preparing meals from a set menu, meeting individual dietary needs.
  • Maintain top standards of cleanliness, food hygiene, and safety.
  • Manage stock control and stock rotation efficiently.
What we’re looking for:
  • Experience in food preparation (especially for large groups is a bonus!).
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, and dietary requirements. (Successful completion of the NVQ food hygiene certificate will be required upon appointment)
  • Understanding of nutrition and hydration for older adults.
  • Flexibility to work across 7 days, including weekends & bank holidays.
  • Familiarity with the IDDSI framework is a plus - but we’ll support your growth!

Working Pattern & Hours:

Tuesday, Thursday & Friday - there is flexibility available in the working pattern.

Hours: 10am - 2pm
