Norse Group LTD is seeking a Catering Assistant for Lucombe House Cafe at County Hall, Exeter. The role involves assisting with food and beverage service, tills, and maintaining cleanliness within the cafe.

Casual based employment with potential for training and development within a national company.partnering with Devon County Council, offering pension and leave benefits.

South West Norse is established in delivering catering, cleaning, and facilities management services to a portfolio of clients in the local region in partnership with Devon County Council, combining local knowledge with service delivery expertise.

As we recognise the importance of building a strong kitchen team to be a key ingredient to our catering success, we currently have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Catering Assistant join our team at Lucombe House Cafe.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation and service of food and drink, including hot and cold meals, snacks, and beverages.

• Operate tills and handle customer payments in line with council financial procedures.

• Ensure a high standard of cleanliness in all areas of the café, including kitchen, counters, and dining areas.

• Wash up and clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.

• Restock supplies and assist with receiving and storing deliveries.

• Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and council policies and procedures at all times.

• Provide excellent customer service in a polite and helpful manner to all customers, including members of the public, staff, and visitors.

• Work flexibly to support the needs of the café, including cover for absences, special events, or busy periods.

• Previous experience in a catering, kitchen, or café environment.

• Basic food hygiene knowledge (Level 1 Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain).

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.

• Reliable, punctual, and well-presented.

• Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours.

• Barista experience or knowledge of coffee machine operation.
