Job summary

Shaw healthcare is hiring a Catering Assistant to join the team at Prestemede. You will support the kitchen under the Chef, preparing meals and ensuring residents receive home‑cooked, nutritious dishes.

The role offers a 6‑hour contract with afternoon shifts and benefits from Shaw's employee‑owned structure and extensive wellbeing provisions. Training and progression opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering and food preparation is desirable.
• Ability to work as part of a kitchen team and follow health and safety rules.
• Willingness to learn and develop through training.

Responsibilities

• Assist chef with food preparation and cooking for residents.
• Prepare hot meals and sandwiches for residents.
• Load/unload dishwasher and wash equipment not suitable for the dishwasher.
• Clean kitchen and equipment and maintain high hygiene standards.
• Distribute crockery to care floors and manage tea trolleys as needed.
• Empty rubbish and keep areas clear; support senior chef with requests.
• Ensure meals meet residents' nutritional needs and safety policies.

Shaw healthcare is looking for a Catering Assistant to join the team at Prestemede. You will join a team that is fully committed to making a difference to the lives of those who we provide care for. You will work under the direction of the Chef to work together as a Catering Team to ensure that delicious home cooked meals are prepared and services to the Residents

Duties Include

• Assist chef with food preparation
• Independently prepare hot meals/sandwiches for residents
• Load and unload dishwasher, wash up equipment unsuitable for dishwasher
• Clean kitchen and equipment
• Collect and distribute crockery from/to the care floors
• Clear tea trolleys where applicable
• Empty kitchen rubbish and keep areas clear of refuse
• Maintain a clean and hygienic environment
• Carry out reasonable requests, as instructed by the Senior Chef/Chef
• Ensure that the nutritional needs of residents are met
• Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Policy and Regulations
