Job summary

North Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Catering Assistant to join our school catering teams. You will assist with meal service, food preparation, and maintaining a clean, safe environment across several school sites in the area.

The role is part-time with multiple patterns: 20 hours, 12.5 hours and 10 hours per week. Applicants must be prepared to join the PVG Scheme and meet the person specification for this post.

Qualifications

• Experience in a catering environment is desirable.
• An Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily food preparation and service of meals and beverages.

Join our dedicated catering team and play a key role in delivering a warm, welcoming, and high quality service to our customers.

As a Catering Assistant, you will work efficiently to support daily food preparation, serve meals and beverages, and help maintain a clean, safe, and friendly environment. Your positive attitude and commitment to great customer service will make a real difference in our busy setting.

• Communicates clearly and confidently
• Has good literacy and numeracy skills
• Understands customer needs and current food trends
• Works well as part of a team
• Brings experience of customer service, with some exposure to till or cash handling

Experience within a catering environment is desirable, and holding an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate would be an advantage.

Working Patterns:

• 20 hr - 10 am - 2.30 pm (30 min unpaid break)
• 10 hr - 12.15 - 2.15
• 12.5 hrs - 11.30 am - 2 pm

Successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme before starting. This will be arranged by North Lanarkshire Council.
