Job summary

North Lanarkshire Council is recruiting a Catering Assistant to support daily food preparation, serve meals and beverages, and keep a clean, safe, welcoming environment in our catering facilities.

You will need good literacy, numeracy and communication skills, a customer-service mindset, and be able to work as part of a team. Experience in a catering setting and an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate are advantageous.

Job description

NLC3 £25,971 - £26,991 (Pro Rata)

Join our dedicated catering team and play a key role in delivering a warm, welcoming, and high quality service to our customers.

As a Catering Assistant, you will work efficiently to support daily food preparation, serve meals and beverages, and help maintain a clean, safe, and friendly environment. Your positive attitude and commitment to great customer service will make a real difference in our busy setting.

We are looking for someone who:

• Communicates clearly and confidently
• Has good literacy and numeracy skills
• Understands customer needs and current food trends
• Works well as part of a team
• Brings experience of customer service, with some exposure to till or cash handling

Experience within a catering environment is desirable, and holding an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate would be an advantage.

Work Pattern (5 Posts):

12.5 hours per week - Saturday & Sunday - 09:30 to 16:15 (30 minute unpaid break)

6.25 hours per week - Saturday - 09:30 to 16:15 (30 minute unpaid break)

6.25 hours per week - Sunday - 09:30 to 16:15 (30 minute unpaid break)

5.5 hours per week - Saturday - 10:00 to 16:00 (30 minute unpaid break)

4.75 hours per week - Sunday 11:00 to 16:00 (15 minute unpaid break)
