Job summary

Yate Academy is seeking a friendly Catering Assistant to prepare and serve healthy school meals and support a welcoming dining experience for pupils and staff. You will help maintain high hygiene standards and assist with the smooth running of the kitchen and dining areas in a team-driven environment.

The role emphasizes delivering quality food, working under pressure, and being willing to undertake training to support healthy eating within a supportive school setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in team-based kitchen settings is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards is desirable.
  • Strong customer service and welcoming service to pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of school meals.
  • Support kitchen, dining room and service areas with general duties.
  • Assist with service and presentation of food and beverages.
  • Assist with cleaning of kitchen equipment and catering areas.
  • Attend training courses and meetings as required.
  • Ensure hygiene and health & safety standards are met at all times.

Job description

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Catering Assistant to help prepare and serve healthy, delicious meals, create a welcoming dining experience and encourage positive relationships with food in a safe and supportive environment., As a Catering Assistant, you will help prepare and serve nutritious meals while maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards. You will support the smooth running of the kitchen, provide a welcoming service to pupils and staff, and help create a positive dining experience that encourages healthy eating habits. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and is passionate about providing high quality school meals in a friendly and supportive environment. Key aspects of the role include:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of school meals.
  • General duties in the kitchen, dining room and the stem
  • Assist with the service and presentation of food and beverages.
  • Assist with the cleaning of kitchen equipment and catering areas.
  • Attend training courses and meetings as required.
  • Ensure hygiene and health and safety standards are met at all times.
  • Pay attention to food presentation, ensuring that meals are visually appealing and appetising. Experience of working in a busy kitchen is desirable but not essential.
  • An ability to react quickly to changing priorities.
  • Experience of taking direction whilst under pressure.
  • A passion for creating and delivering great food to a high standard.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
