Job summary

Aramark UK is recruiting a Catering Assistant to join the team at West Herts College, Watford Campus, WD17 3EZ. This permanent role offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work, and full training.

You will deliver friendly service to students and staff, prepare and serve beverages and food, handle tills, and maintain clean, well-stocked counters. Benefits include free meals, free parking, PerkBox discounts, and clear career progression.

Qualifications

• Previous catering, hospitality, retail, coffee shop or customer service experience desirable but not essential; training provided.
• Friendly, positive and customer-focused approach with good communication skills.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, punctual, flexible and willing to support different catering areas.
• Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Willingness to learn barista skills and prepare beverages to Starbucks standards.
• Basic food hygiene/allergen/Health & Safety awareness desirable; full training provided.
• Able to follow instructions, procedures and company standards.
• Willing to complete required online training and safeguarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, professional and efficient customer service to students, staff and visitors.
• Prepare and serve Starbucks hot and cold beverages to brand standards.
• Serve food, snacks and other products across the catering operation.
• Operate tills and process cash/card transactions accurately.
• Maintain clean, attractive and fully stocked counters, displays and service areas.
• Replenish and rotate stock and assist with deliveries.
• Follow food safety, allergen, Health & Safety and safeguarding procedures.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and presentation, including general cleaning duties.
• Assist with opening and closing duties; work as part of the wider catering team and support other college catering areas and general duties as required.
