Job summary

Aramark UK is recruiting a Catering Assistant to join the team at New College Durham, DH5 1ES. You will deliver friendly service to students, staff and visitors, and prepare beverages to brand standards.

The role is temporary for around 18 months, 10 hours per week, with Monday and Tuesday evenings 3pm-8pm. Full training is provided, with free parking and PerkBox benefits. You may join a motivated team with good career prospects and internal development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous catering, hospitality, retail or customer service experience desirable; training provided.
• Friendly, positive and customer-focused with good communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, flexible and willing to support different catering areas.
• Willingness to learn barista skills and prepare beverages to Starbucks standards.
• Basic food hygiene/allergen/Health & Safety awareness desirable; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, professional and efficient customer service to students, staff and visitors.
• Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages to required brand standards.
• Serve food, snacks and other products across the catering operation.
• Operate tills and process cash/card transactions accurately.
• Maintain clean, attractive and fully stocked counters, displays and service areas.
• Replenish and rotate stock and assist with deliveries.
• Follow food safety, allergen, Health & Safety and safeguarding procedures.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and presentation.
• Assist with opening and closing duties as required.
• Work as part of the wider catering team and support other college catering areas and general duties as required.
