Job summary

Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant to join the Royal Victoria Infirmary catering team, working 26.25 hours per week on a 3 on-4 off / 4 on-3 off rota.

You will prepare and serve hot meals and deli items out of hours, assist with cash handling and ensure high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness, collaborating with chefs, service staff and cashiers to provide efficient food and beverage service for staff and patients.

Qualifications

• Full Clean Driving Licence is required.
• Awareness of good food hygiene practices is essential.
• Experience in NHS catering is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and service of a range of food items out of hours including hot meals and deli options.
• Working closely with the catering team, service staff and chefs.
• Cash handling and food & beverage service responsibilities.

Working as an integral part of the catering department retail team role is based in the Leazes Wing Bistro, Royal Victoria Infirmary site providing out of hours services for staff in the 24 hour bistro.

Main duties of the job

Preparation and service of a range of food items out of hours including a selection of hot meals and deli style options.

Working closely with other members of the catering team including service staff, chefs, cashiers.

Duties will involve cash handling, food and beverage service.

Responsibility for cleanliness of department, compliance, with all hygiene and legislative requirements including Food Safety Management, Allergen Information etc
