Job summary

NTW Solutions Limited is recruiting a part-time Catering Assistant to join the Northgate Park Hospital catering team in Northumberland. The role is 30 hours per week on a 4-week rolling rota, with shift pattern 10:00–18:00, including some weekends.

The post offers a Band A rate of £12.92 per hour and pro rata annual pay in line with NHS values. You will help with basic food preparation, packing and cleaning within a chilled environment, handling deliveries, and assisting with ward food

• Ability to communicate well with colleagues, clinical staff, and patients.
• Able to work well in a team but also unsupervised.
• Adhere to standards and procedures; follow instructions.
• Must meet mobility requirements of the post.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety with training provided.

We are recruiting to the Team at Northgate Park Hospital to work within our friendly Catering Department.

This post is offered at 30 hours per week.

Rolling 4 week rota -

• Monday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
• Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Shift Pattern 10.00 - 18.00.

Main duties of the job

Basic food preparation/ packing and cleaning duties within a chilled environment.

Manual handling duties to include excepting and putting deliveries away, collecting items to prep & pack within a walk in freezer, chilled environment

Candidate will be expected to work within a chilled and freezer environment

Regeneration of patients food in a ward environment

Skills and Knowledge

• An ability to communicate well with others such as other colleagues, clinical staff, or patients

Experience

• Any previous service industry experience (but we will train you fully if you don’t have any experience)
• Previous experience of stock control

Education and Qualifications

• You don’t need any formal qualifications for this job, but a certificate in hygiene is desirable. You will be trained in food hygiene and health and safety as part of the role.

All jobs will be appointed on the NTW Solutions Limited terms and conditions and not NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions. New starters who are not in the NHS Pension already will be enrolled into a NEST pension.

Recruitment into NTW Solutions Limited will follow the principals of NHS Employer Check Standards and any relevant employment legislation.
